As we prepare for the new season, we want to remind all Wicklow Hockey Club members and coaches about the importance of having a valid Hockey Ireland Membership.
This is not a new requirement — the same rule has applied in previous seasons. However, with the move to the Gameday system, it is more important than ever that everyone is correctly registered and up to date.
🏑 ALL PLAYERS & COACHES MUST HAVE A VALID HI MEMBERSHIP
Every Junior and Senior player and coach must have a valid Hockey Ireland Membership for the 2026/27 season.
Hockey Ireland membership is now linked to the Gameday match card system. If you do not have a valid membership, you will not appear as eligible on the match card and therefore will not be eligible to play.
There are no manual workarounds or exceptions, so please make sure your membership is renewed as soon as possible.
📲 HOW WICKLOW HOCKEY WILL CHECK
Our ClubZap system allows us to upload the Gameday files, which means we can check our squads against Hockey Ireland registration records.
This will allow the club to identify any players who are not showing as registered and contact those members directly to get their membership sorted before they are due to play.
This is simply part of our normal club administration and helps us make sure everyone is properly registered and that our teams avoid any unnecessary issues or penalties.
🔄 REMEMBER – MEMBERSHIP MUST BE RENEWED EVERY SEASON
Hockey Ireland membership is not a once-off purchase. It must be renewed for each new season.
If you are new to hockey or havn't yet renewed your Hockey Ireland membership, you will need to register/ renew as soon as possible.

Getting this sorted now will help ensure there are no issues with match cards when the season gets underway.
